This Privacy Policy explains what Jade Words collects, why it is collected, how it is used, and what choices you have.

The policy is written around the current product: account sign-in, learning progress, speaking practice, analytics, crash diagnostics, and subscription support.

Jade Words stores the information needed to sign you in, personalize your path, save progress, and respond to support requests.

Microphone use is tied to speaking practice

Speech recognition is requested only when you choose pronunciation practice, and normal flows do not store raw recordings by default.

Service providers help run the app

Supabase, RevenueCat, Firebase Analytics, Sentry, app stores, and device speech services may process limited data to power the product.

1. Information we collect

Jade Words collects the information needed to operate the app and website. Depending on how you use the service, this can include:

  • account and profile information such as your email address, display name, interface language, native language, current HSK level, and subscription status;
  • learning and activity information such as selected sets, vocabulary progress, grammar activity, writing progress, streaks, XP, achievements, and practice history;
  • support information you send to us, including support emails, bug details, and related attachments or screenshots;
  • website and device preferences such as saved language choice or other local settings stored on your device.

2. Speaking practice and microphone access

Jade Words requests microphone and speech recognition permission only when you choose speaking or pronunciation practice. In the current product, speaking practice may generate recognized transcripts, confidence values, lesson progress, and correctness results tied to your account or session.

Normal product flows are not designed to store raw microphone recordings by default. However, speech recognition may be handled by your device platform or speech-recognition provider, and their own terms and privacy practices may also apply.

3. Analytics, diagnostics, and technical data

We may collect technical information to understand performance and improve reliability. This can include device type, app version, coarse usage patterns, session events, crash information, and diagnostic details.

The current Jade Words product uses analytics and diagnostics tooling such as Firebase Analytics and Sentry, which may process limited device and usage data on our behalf.

4. How we use information

We use collected information to:

  • create and secure accounts, sign users in, and save preferences;
  • deliver lessons, personalize learning paths, store progress, and power spaced review;
  • run subscriptions, entitlement checks, support workflows, and billing-related operations;
  • measure product quality, fix bugs, investigate abuse, and improve the learning experience;
  • communicate with you about support, access, security, or important service updates.

5. Service providers and sharing

We may share limited data with service providers that help us operate Jade Words. Based on the current product, that may include:

  • Supabase for authentication, account storage, and application data;
  • RevenueCat and app-store billing platforms for subscription infrastructure and entitlement handling;
  • Firebase Analytics for analytics events and usage measurement;
  • Sentry for crash reporting and diagnostics;
  • Apple, Google, or device speech-recognition services when you choose microphone-based speaking practice;
  • email or support tooling used to receive and answer support requests.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, preserve progress, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and support legitimate business needs. Retention periods can differ by data type.

When you request account deletion or when retention is no longer justified, we aim to delete or anonymize information where practical, subject to backups, legal obligations, fraud-prevention needs, and provider limitations.

7. Your choices

You can usually choose how you use Jade Words:

  • update profile details, language settings, and study choices inside the app where those controls are available;
  • decline microphone or speech recognition permissions, understanding that some speaking features may not work without them;
  • cancel subscriptions through the billing platform used for purchase;
  • request account deletion or privacy help by contacting support@jadewords.com.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, but no internet service or storage system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. You also play a role by keeping your account credentials private and using trusted devices and networks.

9. International processing

Jade Words and its service providers may process information in multiple countries depending on infrastructure, support operations, device platforms, and provider architecture. By using the service, you understand that information may be processed outside your home jurisdiction, subject to applicable law.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes or as legal and operational requirements evolve. When we do, we may revise the effective date and publish the updated version on the website.
